Avalanche


 Avalanche Lake is a popular ecotourism destination and one of the best places to visit in Ooty. Located at a distance of 25 km from Ooty. An exotic experience of mountain trekking could be realized in this place.

Botanical Garden


22 hectares of eye-pleasing floral fields, the Botanical Gardens is a must-visit. This garden was laid out in 1847 by the Marquis of Tweedale at an elevation of 2400 metres.  10 minutes away from Fortune Retreats, the garden welcomes you with its Italian poolside garden and astonishing Rose Garden. Exclusive collection of Orchids, a variety of medicinal plants, exotic plants and thousands of flower species, the garden also displays a fossil tree trunk considered to  be 20 million years old.

Doddabetta Peak

The highest mountain in Nilgiris, Doddabetta peak is 2637 metres high. You can enjoy a bird’s eye view of Ooty from the peak. Surrounded by marvellous views of its surrounding forest and misty clouds, the place makes a perfect holiday spot.  On a clear day, one can see far off areas, even the plains of Coimbatore and the flat highlands of Mysore.

Emerald Lake

Located at a distance of 25 km from Ooty. A place that should not be missed. Emerald lake is in the upper plateau region of the Nilgiri hills. It is a part of the silent valleys. The sunset and sunrise are also spectacular here. The chirping birds and ducks and other swimming creatures add beauty to the place.

Kalhatty Water Falls

The waterfalls falls down a 36 metres drop. A popular spot for picnics and treks. It is situated at a height of 2,000 m above mean sea level and with many waterfalls and rivulets. Situated on the slopes of Kalhatty, the magnanimous Kalhatty Waterfall stands pretty amidst picturesque landscapes. You can find a wide variety of flora and fauna surrounding the waterfalls. This makes the place an ideal setting for bird watching.

Nehru Park Kotagiri



The Nehru park in the town is a complex which houses a temple of the Kotas, the Gandhi Maidanam which is a public playground, a Congregation centre and the Flood shelter which is used in normal times for indoor games. A private park about 3 km from the town on Coonoor road, specializes in roses and is a must-see from March to June.

Ooty Boat House

Near to the central bus stand and Railway station, the famous Ooty Lake stretches, in an irregular ‘L’ shape, for about 2.75 km in length and varying distances in width, also known as Ooty boat house. This lake was artificially formed by John Sullivan, the founder of Ooty, in 1823-25 by damming the mountain streams flowing down Ooty valley.

Pykara Lake Ooty

The placid lake of Pykara, amid the lush green valleys, is a lovely getaway from Ooty. Here, a calm lake is surrounded by forests. A boat house by the Pykara falls and dam is added attractions to the tourists. With a restaurant and a rest house, Pykara Lake provides you with ultimate comfort.
